Brow Lift / Forehead Lift

Are you considering a brow lift in Sydney?

Do you always look cranky, despite being in a good mood? Do your upper eyelids feel heavy? A brow lift may seem like a drastic measure, but it may be the answer for you. Brow lift operations can also lower a rising hairline. Brow lifts in Sydney are usually performed in conjunction with upper eyelid surgery to give the best results.

A consultation with Dr Gavin Sandercoe will help you understand how you can achieve the rejuvenation that you are looking for. The modern options include everything from anti-wrinkle injections to a traditional brow lift operation. Dr Sandercoe does not perform thread lifts.

What is involved in a brow lift in Sydney?

In the last few decades, the different techniques of brow lift procedures have expanded dramatically. At the heart of this expansion of techniques has been to minimise the incision (scar) length. However, at the core of all these techniques are still a few basic principles. These are:

1.    Elevate the brow from an incision that will heal well, provide the required vector of lift and be barely visible once healed

2.    Resuspend or manipulate the brow structures (hairline, forehead, eye brow) into a position that is more typical of younger patients

3.    Redrape the skin so that there will be no tension on the wound and excise any excess skin in a manner that the scars will be hidden

4.    Close the wound under as little tension as possible, again to hide the scars as well as possible

A brow lift alone addresses the forehead and eye brow position & shape. In order to appear in balance, the eyelids need to be assessed and may benefit from rejuvenation at the same time. It is common to perform upper eyelid rejuvenation at the same time as a brow lift, as this provides results that are more impressive and last longer.

Which technique of brow lift is best for me?

From a patient point of view, there are two broad categories of brow lift surgery based on the incision length – a standard brow lift or short scar variation. Patients that wish for a shorter operation with less downtime often choose a short scar technique – the most common brow lift techniques that Dr Gavin Sandercoe performs. The longer scar gives greater access to achieve greater effects in more areas. The procedures that are done through the incision will be matched to your needs. During your consultation about having a brow lift in Sydney, Dr Sandercoe will evaluate you and discuss which option would be best for you.

When should I think about a brow lift in Sydney?

Patients that benefit the most from their brow lift are in their 40s or older and have specific concerns about the appearance of their upper face and upper eyelids. Patients wishing to lower their hairline, or have the longer incision approach for another reason, will heal better if they are non smokers. Adjunctive procedures such as anti-wrinkle injections and chemical peels are often helpful in getting the greatest result from your rejuvenation. For some patients, the non surgical options create enough improvements for satisfaction.
