Dr. Gavin speaks on facial reconstruction in Sydney and how it can be used on patients who have been suffering from skin cancer or a facial trauma. Dr Gavin and his team are trained in working on local tissues as well as in the use of artificial or biological devices to achieve desired facial reconstruction results. Skin cancer is a big problem in Australia and one need to see a specialist plastic surgeon about the reconstructive options. Although there are many dermatology practices and general practices to identify and treat minor skin cancer, yet one should have a good think about seeing a specialist plastic surgeon to ensure good results.

Dr. Gavin Sandercoe, Plastic & Cosmetic Surgeon

Hi I’m Dr. Gavin Sandercoe. Just like to talk about facial reconstruction. Specialist plastic surgeons are involved in the reconstruction of facial problems or deficits after trauma or after cancer. We are trained in with what we’ll work from local tissues and when tissues from other parts of body need to be brought in and when sometimes you need to use artificial or biological devices to get what you are trying to achieve. My main interest in this is reconstruction after skin cancer and after facial trauma. I found it very gratifying to take somebody that’s been involved in a bad car accident and has a bad broken face and to reconstruct their face and put the bones back where they need to be and redress the soft tissue so things are sitting right. So by the time everything is healed and the scarring process is over within six months you can’t tell that they’ve actually been involved in a bad injury. Skin cancer is a big problem in Australia and you do need to see a specialist plastic surgeon about your reconstructive options. There are lot of dermatology practices and general practices out there doing a really great job in identifying skin cancer and treating some of the more minor ones. However, if you need to have anything cut out with a scapple have a good think about whether you should be seeing a specialist plastic surgeon to make sure your result is as good as it possibly can be.
