Dermal Needling In Sydney

Dermal Needling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or Skin Needling, is an exciting treatment to refresh and renew your skin in Sydney. Dermal needling works by stimulating Collagen production. This naturally improves your skin texture, smooths wrinkles & fine lines and soften scars. Dermal needling is a suitable treatment for all skin types and all areas of the body. Our preferred choice for Dermal Needling is Dermastamp, one of the leaders in the industry for its stand out technology and quality. Dermastamp is a pen like device that uses vibration to deliver fine needles to the skin. Needle depth is variable and able to be changed throughout the treatment. Allowing flexibility for the therapist to customise each treatment. It also opens up a range of things that can be treated in one session. We are able to go as shallow as 0.1mm to treat right up to the eye area, taking care of those pesky crows feet, all the way up to 1.5mm deep to break up scar tissue, such as acne scarring.

HOW DOES DERMAL NEEDLING IN SYDNEY WORK?

Dermastamp improves the thickness of the dermis and epidermis. Thickening of these layers via dermal needling improves the overall texture of the skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Microscopic channels are created by the needles. These channels go down to the dermis, the deeper level of the skin, to stimulate collagen production. The dermis is like the engine room of the skin, where all structural changes begin. As we age collagen production levels start to slow down. Increasing collagen production will improve skin texture and thickness, leaving your skin looking fresh and rejuvenated. Long term this will slow the natural aging process of your skin.

Dermal needling in Sydney is also extremely hydrating. A Hyaluronic serum is infused into the skin during the treatment. During dermal needling in Sydney, a hyaluronic acid serum is infused via the micro-channels. This allows the hyaluronic acid to be delivered directly to the dermis (remember, this is the engine room of the skin). Topical applications of hyaluronic acid without dermal needling cannot reach that deeply into the skin, and are therefore less effective.

DOES DERMAL NEEDLING IN SYDNEY HURT?

Without the proper treatment preparation and numbing, DermaStamp can be uncomfortable. Here, at Dr Sandercoe’s clinic, we use the best quality numbing agents (which require a doctor’s prescription) to ensure your treatment is comfortable and relaxing.

WHAT IS COLLAGEN?

Collagen is the main structural protein (basic Lego® block) of the body. It is found in the bones, muscles, skin and tendons, where it forms a scaffold to provide strength and structure. In mammals, collagen makes up 25-35% of total body protein. As we age the amount of collagen produced in our skin begins to slow down. Keeping collagen productions levels high, assists in slowing down the appearance of aging in our skin, such as fine lines, wrinkles and skin texture.

WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that is primarily found in the gaps between cells (interstitial fluid). Hyaluronic acid attracts and holds onto water (hydrophilic). Hyaluronic acid has the ability to hold 1000 times its weight in water and is the most powerful natural moisturing ingredient known to science. It is through the ability to attract and hold water that hyaluronic acid contributes to the elasticity of skin.

With age and environmental damage, the hyaluronic acid content of skin decreases. This results in a loss of elasticity, which contributes to the formation of wrinkles. Increasing the hyaluronic acid content of skin has the ability to plump the skin, resulting in an increased smoothness, softening and a decrease in wrinkles. We believe that any skin care targeting anti-aging and damaged tissue should include this valuable ingredient.

HOW MANY DERMAL NEEDLING TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED IN SYDNEY?

You will see a change and be able to enjoy the renewing effects after one treatment of dermal needling. For best and most dramatic results we generally recommend a course of 3 treatments of dermal needling in Sydney. The skin improvement is compounded as each consecutive treatment is performed. Multiple dermal needling treatments results in a high amount of collagen production and skin rejuvenation. Specific skin concerns such as scarring, pigmentation or more chronic fine lines may require a longer course of dermal needling treatments to achieve great results.

Treatments are performed 6 to 8 weeks apart. Following your initial course of dermal needling treatments, we recommend that you plan “top up” maintenance treatments every 6 or 12 months.

If you love the results of dermal needling, you can have maintenance treatments every 8 weeks ongoing.

WHEN WILL WE SEE RESULTS of DERMAL NEEDLING IN SYDNEY?

Dermal needling results rely on increased skin collagen production, so will take some time to become visible. You will see a slight change in your skin after a week, with a more refreshed look. Further improvement in your skin tone and texture will develop over the next 6 – 8 weeks. This positive improvement is compounded with each consecutive treatment. For this reason it is very important to continue with your homecare and commit to your treatments to see the best results. The increase in collagen production after dermal needling will continue for 6-12 months following your treatment, making results long lasting.

WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME & AFTERCARE FOR DERMAL NEEDLING IN SYDNEY?

You will be given a post care kit of skin products to use for 5-7 days following each treatment. This will help to calm, repair and hydrate your skin. At the end of your dermal needling treatment we apply a soothing and hydrating mask for 15 minutes. Immediately after dermal needling your skin will be quite red, much like a light sunburn. It is important that you do not apply make up during the first day after your dermal needling treatment. Most people will plan their treatment for a time when they have no commitments and can just be at home following their dermal needling. The first day after your dermal needling your skin may start peeling. The redness will usually decrease within 1-2 days. From the first day after your dermal needing treatment, it is ok to use a true mineral make up to cover up any remaining redness, such as our ColoreScience Mineral Makeup range. The redness and flaking level varies from person to person. By day 3 or 4, your skin will have recovered & your recent dermal needling treatment will be your little secret! It is very important to protect the skin with a good SPF as your skin recovers from dermal needling in Sydney.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DERMASTAMP AND DERMAROLLER?

A Dermaroller consists of a roller that is covered with tiny needles that roll across your skin, creating very small punctures. The needles enter and exit your skin at an angle, causing horizontal tears in your epidermis. This can be painful and may cause you more downtime. It is also difficult to treat the areas around your eyes, nose and mouth. With a roller, the needle depth is fixed. Meaning the eye area is unable to be treated and there is no ability to customize the treatment.

During a Dermastamp treatment, dermal needles enter the skin at a 90 degree angle, which is much less painful and doesn’t cause tears in your epidermis (outer layer of skin). The ability to adjust the needle depth with a Dermastanp allows our therapist to customize the treatment for different areas of your face (with different skin thicknesses), and different skin problems.
