With the advanced technology and a longer wavelength, Cutera’s Coolglide laser can safely and effectively treat both tiny facial veins and deeper blue legs veins on all skin tones. Coolglide produces an intense but gentle pulse of light energy which causes the blood within the vein to coagulate (cook), destroying the damaged blood vessels.
After the treatment, the vessels slowly and naturally disappear, and the future blood flow will be redirected to the veins lower in your skin which are less noticeable. Small facial veins can be treated efficiently without bruising or complication, and most patients find a couple of treatments sufficient. Larger spider veins or blue leg veins may notice some redness or bruising post treatment, along with a possible tan or brownish pigment in the area of treatment. Larger, or varicose, veins should be examined by a vascular surgeon prior to embarking on any non surgical management.
The Cutera Coolglide can also treat blood blisters, port wine stains and other vascular lesions on the skin.
The cooling head on the laser allows decreased discomfort through the treatment, however some patients elect to use a topical anaesthetic. Some people describe the feeling of the treatment as the impact of a thin rubber band being snapped against the skin.
Results vary from person to person, however most patients find that they notice significant improvement with their treated areas within two to six weeks of their treatment. There is no downtime, however it is recommended to avoid vigorous activity 24 hours post treatment.
