Scar Revision Procedure
Scar Revision in Sydney – Procedure
What happens during scar revision in Sydney?
When you book your appointment to discuss scar revision, you will be sent a Patient Information Form. Completing this and returning it prior to your appointment will streamline your appointment.
Consultation appointments prior to your scar revision in Sydney
During your first consultation appointment, you should expect to spend about half an hour with Dr Gavin Sandercoe. During this time he will take a thorough history and examination. Digital photographs are taken to assist with planning and explaining any limitations. He will then discuss your reconstructive options with you and help you decide which option will be best for your scar revision in Sydney.
Dr Gavin Sandercoe is a fully qualified Specialist Plastic Surgeon with training and experience in many techniques of scar revision. He does not favour one particular technique – instead, he will help you understand which treatments will best suit your needs. The risks and expectations of the procedure are then discussed, and you are given a take home information package to review before your procedure.
Pricing is not included on our website as it varies widely. It is rare for any of these scar revision procedures to attract funding from Medicare, or therefore, your health fund.
The day of your scar revision in Sydney
Small scar revision procedures can be performed under local anaesthetic at Norwest Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery. If you are hoping to have this done, please ensure that you inform the receptionist when you schedule your scar revision in Sydney, so that enough time is allocated for you.
Dr Gavin Sandercoe only performs major scar revisions in Sydney in accredited hospitals and day surgeries, along with general anaesthesia administered by a specialist anaesthetist, ensuring that your safety is paramount. Prior to your operation, you will have planning marks drawn on you and a digital photograph taken.
Most scar revision operations are performed as day surgery procedures, as most patients feel well enough to leave hospital on the day of the operation. If you do not think that you will be ready to go home on the same day, we can arrange for you to spend a night in hospital to recover from your procedure. Dr Gavin Sandercoe will monitor you to ensure your safety during and after your scar revision in Sydney.
